#101: The Cable Park District

Sandusky is filled with unique neighborhoods, each having its own story. Today, the 1100-1200 block of Wayne Street is known for its beautiful tree lined medians and walkable feel, but take a stroll down it and imagine being able to catch the inter-urban trolley, shuttling people from Cleveland to Toledo, just one block away. The Cape Cod and Tudor style homes, most built in the 1920s, were desired for their convenient amenities, proximity to transportation and the park-like feel of the street. Take a look back even further, and this area was also home to the Erie County Fairgrounds from 1865-1899.
